What a Year! Looking Back on 2018 with Nick
Topcoder is finishing up it’s 18th year, which means that it can now legally call itself an adult. The Topcoder platform has matured a lot over the years and this year was no exception. It has been a pleasure being a part of this growth and I would like to share my favorite memories and accomplishments that happened over the course of 2018.
TCO18 Regional - Buenos Aires, Argentina
My first visit to Argentina, let alone South America was incredible and it was all thanks in part to everyone who attended the TCO Regional event in Buenos Aires. It was the first time the TCO Regional had ever taken place in South America. The energy in the room was just as electric as it has been in other areas of the world, but of course bringing its own latin flair. Not only did we hold an SRM, but during the break we had members bring out instruments and start playing with each other! Not to mention, the food provided was very delicious.
Track Homepages
This year we have added multiple pages to help our new members get started on our site. In particular with the help from our MVPs we have developed four new track homepages: Design, Development, Data Science, and Competitive Programming. These pages include everything you need to know in order to find success on Topcoder, so check it out if you haven’t already!
Hosting the TCO18 Finals
What an honor it was to be asked back another year to host the TCO18 Finals live on stage and on the live broadcast! Obviously this was not possible without the help of a great team: Harshit, James, Nikita, DaraK, Mess, Jessie, just to name a few. It was great to see a bunch of familiar faces as well as meet some new ones. Everything really is bigger in Texas and this TCO definitely represented that well!
Now it’s your turn. Tell me what your favorite Topcoder moments were from 2018, I’d love to hear them!
While I wait on those responses I would just to like to wish our whole Topcoder community Happy Holidays and a Happy New Year. It has been a great 2018 and I look forward to an even better 2019.
Work Hard, Play Hard, and I’ll See You In The Forums!
