Challenge Summary

Welcome to the "Watchable Logo Design Challenge". In this challenge, we are looking for your help to create a new logo for a new short-form video product called "Watchable". The Watchable video service will be available on many platforms and devices, including: cable set-top boxes, the Watchable web site, Watchable apps on smartphones and tablets.

Your logo should be simple, eye catching, professional yet still fun and the most important thing it conveys the purpose or a sense of brand for the application. We are looking forward to seeing your logo creations!

Challenge Brief
Watchable is a new video product that delivers short-form video to viewers across multiple platforms – Online, App, and cable TV set-top boxes. Short-form videos may include popular "web" content from creators like Smosh, Vice Media or GoPro and / or clips from popular TV shows and music videos.  Watchable will have national availability (US area) and anyone with a HSD connection can access content available through Watchable.

Design Challenge
Design a logo for the "watchable" brand that helps to convey its brand aspirations – "a trusted source to discover the best online video" 

Logo Design Considerations
- Design elements to explore: colors, fonts, name + icon combinations
- "Watchable" does not have to fit on one line.
- Realize the logo will be used in multiple places: TV, Web, Mobile

Logo Requirements
Create a logo that is able to reflect our message to customers:

"We've scoured the web to find the most interesting creators and their best online videos because we only have one goal with Watchable. To bring you the most eye-grabbing entertainment. And weed out the unwatchable."

Things we would like to see
- Icon: A stylized "watchable" icon or logo that relates to the watchable brand concept
- Icon: Black and white version
- Icon: Color version 
- Logotype: Create a version of your logo and pair it with the name "watchable".
- Wordmark: Create a version of your logo that is just typography (wordmark) design
- Showcase your logo in context of a website, mobile app etc.

Design Notes:
- Do not get stuck in one design process.
- Make sure to create different variations of your design, shapes, negative space, text and color combinations.
- Do your research into logos and video!
1. Contrast: Make sure your logo looks good by submitting on a white background and on a dark background. 
2. Type: The font is open - make sure to research and explore great logo typography
3. Color: Open - we will provide additional feedback at the checkpoint
4. Designs must be created as VECTOR artwork so they can be resized without a loss of quality. Make sure your logo quality is not diminished when scaled up or down.
5. The logo should grasp the message of our brand within three seconds of the first glimpse.

Target Audience
Older Millennials (25-35) who are casual web video consumers/watchers that want to easily find interesting and relevant online content, Watchable gives you the best in curated short form digital videos, available to watch across all of your devices, including the TV screen. Watchable provides an easy way to find the best web videos have been specifically picked to appeal to older Millennials’ tastes and viewing preferences. You can watch the best web video content that is relevant to you, in one place, in the way you want to watch them.

Judging Criteria
Your submission will be judged on the following:
- Creativity: Is your logo visually exciting and engaging?
- Relevance: Does your logo convey the brand aspirations?
- Quality: Does your logo look fresh, professional and clean? Is the composition/layout well done?
- Have you used typography in a meaningful way?

Submission & Source Files
Preview Image
Please create a preview image as one (1) 1024x768px JPG or PNG file in RGB color mode at 72dpi and place a screenshot of your submission within it. Use this preview image to help sell your logo solution.

Submission File
Submit JPG/PNG image files based on contest submission requirements stated above.

Source Files
All original VECTOR source files of the submitted design. Files should be created in Adobe Illustrator or Inkscape and saved as layered AI or EPS files. Your source files must meet these requirements:
1) The AI/EPS logo file with text intact (not outlined).
2) The AI/EPS logo file with text in outline format.

Final Fixes
As part of the final fixes phase you may be asked to modify your graphics (sizes or colors) or modify overall colors

Stock Photography

Stock photography is not allowed in this challenge. All submitted elements must be designed solely by you. See this page for more details.

How To Submit

  • Upload your submission in three parts (Learn more here). Your design should be finalized and should contain only a single design concept (do not include multiple designs in a single submission).
  • If your submission wins, your source files must be correct and “Final Fixes” (if applicable) must be completed before payment can be released.
  • You may submit as many times as you'd like during the submission phase, but only the number of files listed above in the Submission Limit that you rank the highest will be considered. You can change the order of your submissions at any time during the submission phase. If you make revisions to your design, please delete submissions you are replacing.

Winner Selection

Submissions are viewable to the client as they are entered into the challenge. Winners are selected by the client and are chosen solely at the client's discretion.

Submission format

Your Design Files:

  1. Look for instructions in this challenge regarding what files to provide.
  2. Place your submission files into a "Submission.zip" file.
  3. Place all of your source files into a "Source.zip" file.
  4. Declare your fonts, stock photos, and icons in a "Declaration.txt" file.
  5. Create a JPG preview file.
  6. Place the 4 files you just created into a single zip file. This will be what you upload.

All fonts, stock photos, and icons within your design must be declared when you submit. DO NOT include any 3rd party files in your submission or source files. Read about the policy.
