Challenge Summary

Welcome to the Cisco Smart Care UI Design Challenge. In this challenge we will be asking you to help us come up with a mobile (tablet) UI design for our next generation Smart Care offering. We’re looking to improve on our current application by taking a hard look at the user experience and the overall look and feel of the application. For this challenge, we will focus on the part of the application which will be used by a Business Operations Manager. You will be given a detailed use case scenario that will outline the screens and interactions that we want you to explore. The primary goal of this design challenge will be to come up with designs and screens that show how the Business Operations Manager could more easily perform the Contract Management function on an iPad. Think of the best user experience for this persona and come up with new navigational schemes that allow the Business Operations Manager to perform his/her job in a more efficient manner. Ideally a Business Operations Manager would be able to view customers and contracts, but also be able to view all contracts based on status across all customers. These two primary views, along with a few supporting views, are what we want you to explore in this design challenge.

Round 1

Submit your initial designs for checkpoint feedback

1) Dashboard
2) Active Contracts
3) Overdue Contracts
4) Contracts that are up for renewal

Feel free to add any other additional screens which are necessary to explain your concept.
Notes.jpg: Any comments about your design for the Client
Make sure all pages have correct flow! Use correct file numbering: (00, 01, 02, 03).

Round 2

Submit your final designs for all the required pages with all checkpoint feedback implemented.

1) Dashboard
2) Active Contracts
3) Overdue Contracts
4) Contracts that are up for renewal
5) Expired Contracts
6) Uncovered Elements
7) Contract Details

Feel free to add any other additional screens which are necessary to explain your concept.

About the Challenge
This challenge seeks an intuitive user experience and designs for a mobile tablet app for a Business Operations Manager handling Contract Management. A detailed use case and user scenario will be provided, along with general design guidelines, from which we are eager to receive your designs for 7 views.

For this challenge, we will focus on the part of the application which will be used by a Business Operations Manager. You will be given a detailed use case scenario that will outline the screens and interactions that we want you to explore. The primary goals of this design challenge will be to come up with designs for the core tasks that our Business Operations Manager will be interested in.

Business Operations Manager
The Business Operations Manager is primarily interested in managing all partner contracts.

Functions for this Persona:
Contract Management:
1.Dashboard View: Show Customer Summaries, Contract Status, Alerts and Notifications (related to product end-of-life and coverage expiration notifications) and other modules and content for the Business Operations Manager such as visibility to dollar amounts per customer for Active Contracts, Upcoming Renewal Opportunities and New Opportunities to cover uncovered devices. Pic 1 in Design Document.
2. View to all Uncovered Elements in the Network identified by the Collectors Deployed in the Network – Pic 7 in Design Document
3. View to see all Smart Care Active Contracts and Contract Lines (Signed, Active, Overdue) – Pic 2
4. View to see all Smart Care Contracts and Contract Lines that are Overdue (Show this with a filter on the results set) – Pic 2
5. View to see all Smart Care Contracts and Contract Lines that are up for renewal in the next 60 and 30 days (Show this with a filter on the results set)  – Pic 3
6. View to see all Smart Care Contracts and Contract Lines that expired in the last 60 days (Show this with a filter on the results set) - Pic 5
7. Contract Details View. A view covering the following aspects of the Contracts and Contract Lines – Pic 7
- Contract Details - Customer Name, Contract Number, Creation Date, Start Date, Expiration Date, Contract Current State
- Contract Line Details - Customer Name, Contract Number, Product ID, Serial Number, Line Start Date, Line Expiration Date, Line Current Sate, Installed-At-Name

Design Guidelines:
Please consider these while creating your designs..
- We are looking for fresh, innovative, and modern design concepts.
- Give importance to the overall layout and think about how a user would interact with the content on the page.
- Feel free to use the Cisco logo.
- While stock photos are allowed for this challenge, please use imagery that is relevant to this application concept.
- Sample views are provided, however please ensure that you DO NOT COPY these. Reference examples only for functionality – these should not constrain your design, but rather used as basic functional reference.
- Think simple and responsive designs for this challenge for tablet screens 1024 x 768 adaptable to various common tablet sizes.

Required Screens:
Please include designs for the following use cases.

1) Dashboard: - Pic 1 in Design Document
- Show Customer Summaries, Contract Status, Alerts and Notifications and other modules and content for the Business Operations Manager such as visibility to dollar amounts per customers for active contracts, upcoming renewal opportunities and new opportunities to cover uncovered devices. Think of the types of information and content that would be most beneficial for our partners. It starts with his/her customers and then on down to his/her contracts. Our partner is interested in viewing contracts and status as it pertains to a customer as well as contract status across ALL of his customers. This dashboard view gives him/her a priority and hierarchy of how he/she can manage the contracts that he/she is responsible for.

2) Active Contracts:
-View to see all Smart Care Active Contracts and Contract Lines (Signed, Active, Overdue) – Pic 2
This view can either be at a customer level or an ALL contracts level
Filterable by active/expired/signed/expiring in 30-60-90 days and filterable by customers

3) Overdue Contracts:
View to see all Smart Care Contracts and Contract Lines that are Overdue (Show this with a filter on the results set) – Pic 3
This view can either be at a customer level or an ALL contracts level
Need to depict overdue or expired contracts, or represent overdue for how long, or overdue status (before expiration)
Highlight contracts approaching due date & those presently overdue, so that action can be taken per contract, ie drill into line level of contract details (“Lines” are like pages in a folder, each “Line” has a start & end date). Note that a contract may be Overdue for 30 days, then after another 30 days has Expired status (just like an insurance policy)

Possible Actions from this view:

-“Renew Line” (from those in an Overdue state which would trigger a new code for renewing their service)
- “Add Notes” at a contract level or a line level.

4) Contracts that are up for renewal:
-View to see all Smart Care Contracts and Contract Lines that are up for renewal in the next 60 and 30 days (Show this with a filter on the results set)  – Pic 4
This view can either be at a customer level or an ALL contracts level

Possible Actions from this view:

- “Drill Down” into contract Line level to see which Line is up for renewal, and view the price required to renew that Line
- “Add Notes”

5) Expired Contracts:
View to see all Smart Care Contracts and Contract Lines that expired in the last 60 days (Show this with a filter on the results set) - Pic 5
This view can either be at a customer level or an ALL contracts level

Possible Actions from this view:

- “Drill Down” into contract
- “Add Notes”
- Indicate a price point for renewal

6) Uncovered Elements:
View to all Uncovered Elements in the Network identified by the Collectors Deployed in the Network – Pic 6
This view can either be at a customer level or an ALL contracts level
Need to add “Price to Cover Item” & steps to “cover” it (ie what to do to include item in a contract & understand price to add. Ex: adding a car to your existing insurance policy)
May optionally include a small ad regarding what to add & why

Possible Actions from this view:
View Options to Cover
View Price to Cover
View / drill down into details

7) Contract Details
View to see the following aspects of the Contracts and Contract Lines –  Pic 7
- Contract Details - Customer Name, Contract Number, Creation Date, Start Date, Expiration Date, Contract Current State
- Contract Line Details - Customer Name, Contract Number, Product ID, Serial Number, Line Start Date, Line Expiration Date, Line Current Sate, Installed-At-Name
- Consider also showing activity and alerts around a contract
- A contract can contain multiple products. It is within this detail view that a Partner is able to see products associated with a specific contract as well as their status.
- Could include suggested / prescriptive messages based on contract info (seeking challenge participant ideas) such as % of environment covered/uncovered, other options, other upsell opportunities. This is intended as a holistic view of all contracts that one has, i.e. in addition to the “Lines” on this contract which are up for renewal, should be able to view the total price of all contracts, total amount up for renewal in 30 days / 60 days / 90 days, and price to renew @ each of these User of this view is for an Operations Manager to assess with a Contract Manager to feed to the sales team a new opportunity, with a focus on the customer’s budget & risk
-
Beneficial may be a calendar or to view the details in a calendar context relative to the activities in focus, a sum total, percent of risk of network coverage
-
May possibly include historical aspects of which Lines were in past trouble (although may be too difficult to indicate)

Target Audience:
- Business Operations Manager

Judging Criteria:
- Cleanliness of your graphics and design
- How well you plan the user experience and capture your ideas visually
- Your designs are not similar to the given wireframes within the design direction document or the Sample APP screenshots
