Challenge Summary

TopCoder is working with Harvard Medical School and Business School on an experimental marathon match series and they are looking for a banner to promote this competition. TopCoder has created Marathon Matches in an effort to provide a more flexible competition format with an extended timeline that offers different types of problems than what can be offered in a traditional TopCoder algorithm round. These competitions are a bit more leisurely than the traditional TopCoder algorithm competitions and will allow competitors to spend as much or as little time as they like whenever they like before the deadline. This experimental series will take marathon matches to a whole new level allowing collaboration amongst competitors for the first time. The banner will be viewed on the Marathon Active contest page.
The goal of this contest is to promote this Marathon Experimental Series to the TopCoder member community. The Marathon Experimental Series will have three different marathon matches with the same problem and different treatments: One will be a traditional marathon match, one will be traditional and include some type of collaboration amongst the competitors, and the third will be collaboration throughout the match. The problem will ask competitors to solve computational biology problems so your design should somehow convey that. Please use the Harvard colors for your design. The banner must NOT use the Harvard name OR logo. The banner will be viewed on the Marathon Active contest page. Design Goals The design of this banner is open to the designer but must convey the excitement of this contest. It should visually draw attention to itself on the page. Banner Requirements You will be designing one banner in two (2) sizes. Banner sizes required are: 510px x 54px 340px x 76px The following text must appear in your banner:
Experimental Marathon Series Win a Trip to the TCO09!
The banner must NOT use the Harvard name OR logo. Target Audience: The target audience is the algorithm and marathon competitors. Branding Guidelines: Please use the Harvard colors for your design. The banner must NOT use the Harvard name OR logo. Judging Criteria Your submission will be judged on the following: Creativity - the banner should be visually exciting and engaging Execution - The quality of the graphics as well as following the provided guidelines The Harvard and TopCoder folks will be asking the marathon competitors for their feedback on which submissions they like best. However the final decision of the winners will be picked by Harvard folks and TopCoder. Preview Image Your preview image should show your banner in context of the Marathon Active Contests page with no added effects or skewing.
