Overview

TopCoder, Inc. will be conducting a contest for members during the 2007 TopCoder Collegiate Challenge (TCCC07). As a result of this contest, three members and the top three nominated professors will be awarded with a trip to attend the onsite finals of the TCCC07 in October 2007.

Eligibility

To be eligible for the contest, you must be:

  • 18 years of age or older; and
  • A registered, rated, and active member of TopCoder in good standing.

The 2007 TopCoder Collegiate Challenge Prestigious Professor Award Nomination is void in the Quebec province of Canada and where prohibited by applicable law. Residents of Cuba, Iran, North Korea, Sudan, or Syria are ineligible to participate and are ineligible to attend the onsite event as winners.

Employees of TopCoder, Inc., their affiliated companies, advertising and promotion agencies and immediate family members of each are not eligible. Employees of any TCCC07 sponsoring companies are allowed to compete in the 2007 TopCoder Collegiate Challenge Prestigious Professor Award Nomination, provided they meet the eligibility requirements. All federal, state and local laws and regulations apply. Void where prohibited.

If not already a member, register for TopCoder electronically at www.topcoder.com. Once registered at TopCoder, submit here.

Eligible Professor

To be considered an eligible professor, nominees must be an instructor in an IT or Design field including, but not limited to, Computer Science, Statistical Mathematics, Applied Mathematics, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, Management Information Systems (MIS), Computer Information Systems (CIS), and Graphic Design.

Selection of Winner

The top ten (10) nominated professors will be selected by a review panel of TopCoder staff and named as finalists. Those finalists will then be posted on the TopCoder website for the community to vote for the three (3) candidates they feel deserve to go to the TCCC.

Submissions will be accepted from August 13, 2007 through September 21, 2007.

Online voting will take place from September 24 - 25, 2007.

In order for professors to be eligible for the contest, they must be available to travel to the United States October 30 - November 2, 2007.

Prize

Three (3) students and their nominated professors will be awarded a trip to attend the onsite finals of the 2007 TopCoder Collegiate Challenge. TopCoder will provide travel arrangements for winning members and professors (collectively "winners"). TopCoder will provide ground transportation to and from the airport, as well as hotel accommodations and certain meals. All other expenses are the responsibility of the winners. TopCoder will not provide travel or lodging accommodations for a guest to accompany the winners to the 2007 TopCoder Collegiate Challenge. Winners accept responsibility for all federal, state, and local taxes and fees in connection with the prize.

General Conditions

By participating in the contest, members agree to be bound by these rules and to all decisions of TopCoder, which are final, binding and conclusive in all matters.

Contestants must not cheat. All submissions must be the contestant's alone and must not have been written by anyone other than the contestant.

Winners will be notified via email within ten (10) days of the completion of the member voting that they have won a prize.

By participating in the contest and redeeming the prize, the winners release and agree to hold harmless TopCoder, its affiliates, subsidiaries, advertising and promotion agencies, sponsors, and prize suppliers, and all of their respective directors, officers, employees, representatives and agents, from and against any and all liability for any loss, property damage or damage to person, including without limitation, death and injury, due in whole or in part, directly or indirectly, from or arising out of participation in the contest, or participation in any contest-related activity, or the receipt, use or misuse of the prize. TopCoder specifically disclaims all liability associated with, and makes no warranties with regard to, any prize given.

In addition, the winners agree to cooperate with TopCoder's publicity efforts, without further compensation. This includes the agreement to use their name, handle, address (city and state) and likeness for publicity purposes, where legal, for this or similar future contests, and to use the statements made by, or attributed to, the winners relating to TopCoder and any and all rights to said use, without further compensation.

TopCoder reserves the right, in its sole discretion, to revoke any and all privileges associated with competing in the contest, and to take any other action it deems appropriate, for no reason or any reason whatsoever, including if TopCoder suspects competitors of cheating, tampering with the entry process, the operation of the Web site, or the contest process, or otherwise being in violation of the rules. TopCoder reserves the right to cancel, terminate or modify the contest if it is not capable of completion as planned for any reason, including infection by computer virus, bugs, tampering, unauthorized intervention or technical failures of any sort.

Other

The contest is void in whole or in part where prohibited by law.
