The Challenge

A top 500 insurance provider wanted to modernize the way customers engage with and learn about their vehicle protection products—moving away from traditional brochures and sales explanations. The goal was to design a cutting-edge, tablet and mobile-based augmented reality (AR) experience that would visually demonstrate where and how each protection product applies to a vehicle.

Whether interacting with a real car or a 3D model in “Virtual Vehicle Mode,” users needed to explore packages like Tire & Wheel Protection, Paintless Dent Repair, and Environmental Protection in a rich, intuitive interface. The experience had to feel premium, professional, and effortless for users in a dealership setting, regardless of technical skill level.

The Solution

A top 500 insurance provider partnered with Topcoder to launch a global design challenge, calling on UX/UI talent from around the world to bring this vision to life. Designers were tasked with creating clean, modern concepts that could be adapted across mobile phones and tablets. The final designs provided a highly visual and interactive user experience.

Users could rotate a 3D vehicle, click on hotspots to view protection coverage, and dive into embedded videos and product details. The navigation was designed to seamlessly guide users across various protection plans while allowing dealerships to tailor the experience based on available products. By combining responsive layouts, visual storytelling, and smart AR interface cues, the resulting concepts balanced innovation with usability.
