IT BEGAN WITH A GAME

Topcoder was launched in 2001 by a brazen technologist and avid chess player. His question: could we create a transparent and reputable rating system for developers akin to the famous ranking method used in the world of chess? And if so, could enterprises access these developers on demand to simplify and speed the way they got digital work done? What was deemed a wild idea in 2001 is now known simply as crowdsourcing.
