Challenge Overview
TopCoder shall develop a software tool to facilitate audits of laboratories. Audits aim to provide customers productivity, quality, and safety improvement recommendations. The program shall be implemented on both tablet and conventional PC platforms. A detailed outline of desired design and functionality has been prepared. A summary of key requirements is as follows:
· Capability to create new audit files. Audit files shall contain data entered by auditor. Data shall be obtained via auditor discussion with lab personnel or inspection of lab facilities. Data entry fields shall be organized under different categories. Data entry shall be accomplished via stylus and touch interaction with tablet and via keyboard interaction with conventional PC. Program shall have capability to convert “hand-written” data entered via stylus to typed text.
· Capability to store, retrieve, and edit audit files.
· Capability to export audit files in Microsoft Word format.
· Capability to assign access permissions to users for regulating editing, printing, and exporting of audit files.
The requirements above constitute a “basic” version of the program. It is anticipated that an “advanced” version of the program shall be developed with additional features in the near future.
We are currently unsure of hardware and OS choice. We will be looking for a tablet with a stylus and write-to-text capability. We will be asking the co-pilot to help steer this decision based on our business needs.
