OpenStack

OpenStack is a cloud operating system that controls large pools of compute, storage, and networking resources throughout a datacenter, all managed through a dashboard that gives administrators control while empowering their users to provision resources through a web interface.  Imagine a single pane of glass to manage pools of hypervisors rather than separate interfaces for each.  OpenStack abstracts the underlying networks and presents them via a set of APIs and a dashboard.  All resources are virtualized and accessed through the OpenStack layer in order to make access easy and consistent.  Since the software is open source it is built and maintained by a community of developers of which Cisco is a prime contributor
