We’re happy to announce three exciting Demo Design Challenges for IBM Watson Services! Watson Services are a set of services developers can use to start building apps, mixing and integrating their functions with their application needs. There’s over $5000 in prizes between these challenges, so be sure to check them out.
The first challenge is the Language Translator Demo Challenge, which launched on Friday, June 26th. The Language Translator Demo Challenge is about providing a cool mobile demo UI so the users can speak English into their phones, have the service transcribe that into text, translate the text into Spanish, and then speak that Spanish translation back through the device.
Next up is the AlchemyVision Face-Tagging Service Demo Challenge, which launches on Saturday, June 27th. This challenge is about having the user provide a base picture of themselves, then having their camera scan their faces. This produces a new picture which the Watson Service compares to the original picture as a level of security for logging into an app!
Lastly, the Tradeoff Analytics Service Demo, which launches on Sunday, June 28th, is about letting a user compare potential purchases across different measurements to determine which product best serves their needs. This is displayed in a visualization that the app builds based on their input, and lets them gauge the products based on how those products compare among different measurements. This requires some deeper design thinking, as you’ll need to figure out the best approach to the visualization of the qualitative information.
