June 29, 2022 Topcoder Security Month

Announcing Security Month at Topcoder! As part of this themed month on all things security, we’ll be looking into improving the clarity and user experience of Topcoder terms & conditions and Code of Conduct. There are also a few cool events planned:

Topcoder Nation AMA show with VP, Security John Wheeler

July 12 at 10:00 UTC-4

Joining our host, mahestro, for this month’s Topcoder Nation show is none other than J. Wheeler, the head of everything security-related at Topcoder!

A Policy & NDA / Secure Work webinar

July 26 at 10:00 UTC-4

In this event, we will go through the main points of Topcoder Policies and Code of Conduct – what it takes to do paid work on Topcoder – and concluding with a sneak peek towards the future of secure work.

A Security-Focused RDM

July 29 at 8:00 UTC-4

This month’s Rapid Development Match (RDM) will be in a special format and heavily focused on software and web security. Be sure to review your OWASP before then!

A Cybersecurity Skill Builder challenge

This month’s Skill Builder challenge will also be focused around security themes. This will run all month long with prizes and skills to be learned.

We’ll also do our best to organize discussions on the Forums and on Discord on cool topics such as cybersecurity.

Friendly Reminders

We take security and privacy very seriously at Topcoder and we are lucky to have a great community of members that respect that. It’s important that we remember what the Non-Disclosure Agreement (NDA) means, what our terms represent, and how important the Code of Conduct is. Throughout July, we’ll be improving these documents but also making sure we do a better job to continue to remind you of their importance. Your feedback is always welcome.

Stay tuned & stay secure!
