January 22, 2020 Recap: Highlights from Topcoder Open 2019
The annual Topcoder Open (TCO) is the most riveting and inspiring event we do with the whole Topcoder community. We gather to compete, but TCO is more than just competition. It also includes panels, workshops, an Innovation Summit where our community learns, networks, and gets excited about new skills and insights. At TCO19, we were thrilled to add a Girls in STEM event.
It was all pretty amazing. Which is why we put together this highlight reel to share the big excitement with you—from competitions and champion winners, to speakers, sponsors, and so much more.
Topcoder open 2019 Highlights At a Glance
First the Numbers:
Topcoder Open 2019 included over 100 competitors from 31 different countries, who were competing for $92,000 in prize money.
Girls in STEM:
Sponsored by Intel and RS Energy Group, Girls in STEM Day gave local students a chance to visit TCO19, watch competitions, participate in a coding contest, and learn from a panel of STEM professionals.
The TCO19 finals include challenges in Development, UX, and QA. Participants worked on solutions for a large-scale chess game, NASA image storage, and digital asset management tool design.
The Innovation Summit provides attendees with the rare opportunity to network industry leaders, meet Wipro and Topcoder team members, sit in on meaningful panel discussions, and hear powerful keynotes from across the technology sector.
For many competitors and attendees, the highlight of the TCO experience is participating in or watching the real-time competitions that are the heart of the event. Participants described the intense environment as being totally different from their usual work online. The thrill of the competition is capped at the final awards ceremony, where the champions from all tracks are announced.
