A couple of weeks ago our CEO made a significant announcement that will affect the topcoder community for the foreseeable future. Apple recently revealed that they are partnering with a number of companies to bring iOS solutions to market to capture the enterprise. Appirio is thrilled to be one of these partners and we’ll be leveraging the talent of the topcoder community to deliver these solutions.
So what does that mean for topcoder developers? Start learning Swift and iOS development now.
Once the program starts rolling we’ll need an abundance of co-pilots and developers well versed in iOS development. This is going to be a big program and I can’t stress enough the importance of it. Personally, I’ve dedicated an hour of each morning (during my morning coffee) to strengthing my iOS devevelopment skills. I’m pretty solid with Swift but it’s with the mechanics of using Xcode where I need help. There are a number of great resources available (some free, some paid) and I’m working my way through The Complete iOS8 and Swift Course: Learn by Building 15 Real World Apps on Udemy.
In addition to the links on our Swift Resource page, here are some that I’d recommend you check out for iOS development:
Developing iOS 8 Apps with Swift by Stanford (on iTunes for free)
Learn Swift for iOS at Treehouse
If you participated an last fall’s Get Started with Swift series, you’ve had a small taste of what’s in store for developers. If you have any feedback or questions or ideas on how to make learning iOS developer easier, please don’t hesitate to let us know.
