This is an idea page for new standards that TopCoder should capture as part of its Component Standards and Practices effort. These are all non-binding.

Promotion process

  1. Add your idea here
  2. When able flush it out by making it its own page
  3. Edit/Discuss individual ideas
  4. Greg Eldridge will decide which of these to promote and when.

Ideas

Please keep the ideas short and sweet.

Not sure I understand that one liner about component contract. Essentially, I would take this to mean always leaning towards an interface with perhaps an abstract implementation that can be used to provide most of what is necessary for an implementation.

Also, should we go ahead and get a forum thread on this?

Not sure why we need that. We can use comments here - re: what is worth promoting, and the pages themselves for the individual practices.

My main reason for suggesting that was to simply move the discussion to a place where more people may see it. (This is going off the possibly wrong assumption than more people read the forums.)
