Let's go step by step to know how to use the plugins:

There is many possible configuration sets of plugins, you can use Standard Editor, KawigiEdit, a set of FileEdit + CodeProcessor + TZTester or create your custom plugin.

Here follows instructions how to configure a FileEdit + CodeProcessor + TZTester pack:

1) Download FileEdit.jar, TZTester.jar and CodeProcessor.jar.

2) Put the three files in one folder where you will not move later on.

3) Launch the Arena and go to Options → Editors

4) Press the Add button.

5) Browse the FileEdit.jar file and type "FileEdit" in the "Name" text box and "fileedit.EntryPoint" in the "EntryPoint" text box. And then press OK

6) Highlight the FileEdit and press configure.

7) Make sure that the Enter Directory is set to the desktop to be accessed quickly.

8) Go to Code Template and choose the programming language you are using. Note, if you choosed a diferent language than your default language; the plug-ins will not work correctly. You can set your default language from the Arena at any time by following the next steps:

          (a) Go to "options" menu above in the Arena and choose "setup user preferences"

          (b) Select the second tab "Editors"

          (c) choose your default language.

9) You can add to the code template any includes or functions that you always use for faster use next time and Click Save and close.

10) Now Click Add again.

11) But this time you must browse the three files including the FileEdit.jar.

12) Type "CodeProcessor" in the "Name" text box and "codeprocessor.EntryPoint" in the "EntryPoint" text box. And press OK

13) Select CodeProcessor and press Configure.

14) Type "fileedit.EntryPoint" in the "Editor EntryPoint" text box. If you press Configure and you will see the file edit Configration like in step 7.

15) Type "tangentz.TZTester" in the "Processor Class" text box. Then Click Verify and a window appear with OK button, click OK.

16) Click Save.

17) Let the CodeProcessor be your Default Editor, and Click Save.

18) Enjoy Coding.

It happened with me many times before when I was tring to open the "Arena.jnlp" from the disk.

The best way is to click the icon "O( n )" from the topcoder.com/tc website and when the firefox asks you whether you want to save or open choose open. It always work.

I don't know what's the real reason for that, but some times the Arena.jnlp doesn't work from the HardDisk and one should open it from the TopCoder website.

Hope it work with you.

This happened to me too on Fedora 8.  When I tried to launch the arena from the command-line using javaws, it complained that it couldn't link to libstdc+.so.5.  I installed the "compat-libstdc-33-3.2.3-62.i386" package using "Add/Remove Software" - it's in Development > Legacy Software Development.  This installed libstdc+.so.5, and now the arena launches.

Hope this helps!

Hello,

When I follow these directions, on step 5, when I click Browse, the arena app freezes up and the CPU usage on my machine goes to max.  I have to hard kill the Arena app.  This is on Windows XP, Java 1.6.0.  Anyone had a similar problem?  Thanks!

I did the same steps on Windows XP hundered times during last two years and I didn't face any problem, except once when I was doing those steps for the first time and I made some mistakes. I tried many things then, but the only way that worked was when I reinstalled Windows XP

The Wiki says "Download FileEdit.jar, TZTester.jar and CodeProcessor.jar", but doesn't say where to download them from.  I do a search for TZTester and it leads me back to this page.

I recommend that someone who knows where these jar files are include a link to them in this wiki page.

 Thanks!

When I install the Kawigi Plugin,a strange problem came out...

After I click the Ok Button,a window come out and said that "Could not instantiate the plugin(see the java console for details).

I want to konw why I couldn't install the Kawigi Plugin.

Thank you.

I think the problem could be with the Entry point.

Type the entry point correctly  or  copy paste "kawigi.KawigiEdit"  ( quotes for clarity )

I have the same problem when I install configuration FileEdit + CodeProcessor + TZTester.
When I configure codeProcessor I have error:
java.lang.InstantiationError. Cannot instantiate fileedit.EntryPoint....

Who knows what is this?

dude u hav done a mistake u have only browse the codePrecessor  after

" Type "CodeProcessor" in the "Name" text box and "codeprocessor.EntryPoint" in the "EntryPoint" text box. "

in the same instance ie. after typing entry name and entry point ,,,,,u have to browse " FileEdit + CodeProcessor + TZTester" in the that same browse box.......and "click save"  and  follow step 13........
