Thereare14priestsfromtheArchdioceseofManilathatcatertheformationprogramofseminariansfortheSchoolYear20082009 SanCarlosSeminarytheArchdiocesanSeminaryofManilawasthefirstdiocesanseminaryestablishedinthePhilippinesItsfoundationwasdecreedbyKingPhilipVofSpainwhoonApril281702orderedtheestablishmentinManilaofaseminaryfortheformationofthediocesanclergyasenvisionedbytheCouncilofTrent OnDecember81707theseminarywasblessedandinauguratedbyArchbishopFranciscoCuestaandwasnamedRoyalSeminaryofSanClementeinhonorofthereigningPopeClementXI In1715thenameoftheseminarywaschangedtoRealSeminariodeSanFelipeinhonorofthekingspatronsaintThenextdecadecivilauthoritiesturnedSanFelipeintoauniversitysotheseminarianshavetotakemostoftheirphilosophyandtheologycoursesattheJesuitrunColegiodeSanJoseandattheDominicanrunColegiodeSantoTomasButtheUniversityofSanFelipewasshortlivedandby1730theseminarywasbacktotheexclusiveuseoftheseminariansYearslateraspartofthereformsbeinginstitutedtheJesuitsColegiodeSanIgnaciolocatedonCalleRealdePalacionowGeneralLunaStreetandCalleEscuelanowVictoriaStreetwasconvertedintoadiocesanseminaryIn1786itwasbestowedanothernameREALSEMINARIOCONCILIARDESANCARLOS Theseminarybuildingwasheavilydamagedduringtheearthquakeof1889soagaintheseminarianshadtobemovedTheVincentianFatherswhohadbeeninchargeoftheseminarysince1862inaccordancewiththewishesofQueenIsabellaIItransferredthestudentstotheirCasadelCampoinSanMarcelinoThreeyearslaterArchbishopPedroPayoconstructedabuildingforseminariansinArzobispoStreetbesidethenewSanIgnacioChurchIn1905ArchbishopJeremiahHartyplacedSanCarlosunderthecareoftheJesuitsItwaslatertransferredtoCavitewiththemissionariesoftheCongregationoftheImmaculateHeartofMaryCICMwhentheytookoverTrinityCollegetherein1909ThreeyearslaterSanCarloswasbackinIntramurosjoiningtheJesuitrunColegiodeSanFranciscoJavieronPadreFaurauntilitwasclosedin1913ArchbishopHartylaterfoundanotherplacefortheSanCarlosSeminaryinarenovatedbuildingnowDonBoscoinMandaluyongCityandtheVincentianswereagainputinchargeoftheseminary
