You may or may not know that GE has a long history of embracing open innovation and doing incredible work through contributors from around the globe. Now, it’s your turn!

GE is looking for brand new design concepts that will allow them to both showcase their existing open innovation library and welcome in new solvers and contributors to any of their ongoing challenges. They are seeking your creativity and bold designs as they look to completely re-imagine the mobile and web design interfaces.

We want to showcase how easy it is to engage the [topcoder] design studio community and demonstrate how well you can take ideas and turn them into great design and user experience concepts! Cash in on this great opportunity to prove your design skills and get a great portfolio piece in the process. Best of luck to you all!

Challenge Resources
For this challenge we are providing simple wireframe and design guidance for you!

Files
- LUX6-wireframes.pdf = Wireframes and Application inspiration
- REMEMBER: DO NOT COPY the wireframes exactly
- The wireframes are meant to help guide you and let you understand the application the audience would like to see designed. Think about the user experience/user interactions and show us your solutions! You can do something different or whatever you think make sense of this mobile application.

Design Problem
- This is our site target:  http://www.ge.com/about-us/openinnovation
- We want to focus on “Mobile first design” and design an engaging! responsive website that showcases the GE Open Innovation projects and allows potential customers the ability to dive into the different solutions and learn more about GE Open Innovation.

Primary Goal:
- Design a vibrant, fluid, beautiful, image and content first showcase for Open Innovation challenge that GE has already run (showcase).

Suggestion 1: Think about a content consumption mobile application - When I open up my “Pulse’ App (content aggregator) I am immediately shown large, beautiful imagery and a story to read - go deeper into. There is other functionality evident, but the main attraction is the first ‘story’ they want me to see - this would be a good direction for this showcase application.

Suggestion 2: Avoid asking a user to click on something that says ‘showcase’ - the think the user should be shown that first showcase/imagery to begin (again with easy, beautiful navigation to search, swipe or arrow to other examples, find out how to engage (etc.)

Secondary Goal:
- A user needs to see Current/Open Projects
- A user needs to be able to see (visually compelling) what types of challenges are open right now
- Challenges fall into 3 categories - Grand Challenges, Quests, and RFPs (think icons!)
- This section must allow a user to participate, including an easy registration form where the user can tell GE and the community what type of user they are.

LUX6 DETAILS
Concept Description & User Story

The GE OpenView application is the perfect showcase for GE’s ambitious Open Innovation challenges. Users are greeted with bold visuals, compelling imagery, and a human story tied to the challenge that engages the user and inspires them to learn more!

In modern, mobile interactive ways, users can easily explore the various featured  showcases, decide to dive into individual challenge stories for more detailed information on that particular challenge, share any of the content socially, tweet to the individual contributors who won the challenges, and even explore current and future challenges by following or registering to compete in that challenge!

Combining the most visual & intuitive content exploring experiences with social features that focus on community, sharing, and joining projects, the GE OpenView application makes it easy and beautiful to see and read what is going on with GE’s Open Innovation program!

Application Name(s)
- Come up with a name “GE Innoview” “GE OpenView” etc.
- Anything creative you might think makes sense.

Conference Questions
We asked a series of questions to the conference audience to help “inspire” some aspects of the application.

Logo Inspiration - "Dolphin"
- Dolphin is the inspiration for our Open Innovation Hub logo.
- Do not use an actual Dolphin but think of the shapes, curves, sleekness that a Dolphin represents.
- Application Logo should not copy traditional GE logo, but it should pair well with it

Color Palette - "Tennis"
Our color scheme will be based in green (which works nicely with GE blue)
- You can pick other colors that you think represent “tennis” if you want

Design Inspiration - "The Red Hot Chili Peppers"
- The overall design inspiration should be bold, incorporate larger than life imagery and personality

Design Considerations
- Focus on the design being a great mobile experience
- DO NOT copy the wireframes (if you do.. everyone's designs will look the same!) focus on creating your unique approach to this project and the user experience
- Give importance to the overall layout and think on how a user would interact with the content on the page.
